INTRODUCTION
At this stage of global discourse on human dignity, there is a need to expand the scope to include the idea of human flourishing, which is also common to all great religions and moral philosophies of the world. As human dignity abhors injustice and any form of discrimination towards other human beings based on religion, race, colour, gender, language, and nationality, it is time we move away from such injustices towards human beings and re-envision the human flourishing of our society. We must no longer discriminate against human beings who hold a different vision of progress and development from capitalist, materialistic, and technological perspectives. Likewise, we must not discriminate against those who hold different conceptions of human flourishing from the dominant secularized conception.
Representatives of various faith traditions today must lead the conversation to reclaim what it means to progress and develop with human dignity and human flourishing as core goals towards a more balanced society in terms of well-being in its various facets, within a world increasingly defined by technological advancements. The sharing of ideas and perspectives among panelists and participants in this Roundtable Discussion is important, as it will create opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing on the topic, while enhancing understanding of the concepts of human dignity and human flourishing from a multi-faith perspective, drawing from the rich religious and moral traditions found throughout Malaysia.
